30MM Tecprot – Earth Federation Security Unit Model Kit

The Techproto is a mass-produced Earth Federation security unit designed for maintaining order across Earth’s controlled regions. Built on the 30 Minutes Missions system, this kit combines modular construction with battlefield-ready equipment and multiple configuration options.

It includes a large shield with a single-part molded surface pattern, a scope-type visor for localized combat, and a grenade launcher for enhanced firepower. The armor can also be removed to recreate a lightly equipped configuration, expanding display versatility.

Includes:

  • Grenade launcher x1

  • Large shield x1

  • Scope visor x1

A modular 30MM unit focused on customization, light/heavy armor variation, and tactical display setups.

Base not included.

Not suitable for small children due to many small parts.

New Armor on Old Bones

The Tecprot is an Earth forces SWAT/tactical style mech "designed for maintaining order across Earth's controlled regions", because apparently they need a 400mm grenade launcher rather than a 40mm, for those extra spicy gas canisters.
Maybe this is inspired by Patlabor and they have people in mechs rebelling, either that or they have 15m tall punks running around.

Aesthetics:
There are kind of two things going on here at once - It's clearly some sort of riot police, but then it also has that single camera night vision mask, which implies special forces. This seems to be a modernized Alto in a model making sense, with much better looking limbs and details.
The head is a much needed upgrade on the old 30MM heads and is reminiscent of doomguy/doomslayer's helmet, without the night vision camera.
This green and grey version maybe fits in better with the Byron/Bailon forces, but there is also a blue variant with a riot visor instead.

Mechanics/bits:
It's basically the Alto kit with a fresh coat of paint. The usual C-clip knees and elbows feel cheap and sloppy, with the same ranges of movement (or lack thereof).
The kit comes with a pair of large and a pair of small armor bits with prominent venting that can easily be slotted onto other models using the built in 3mm pegs. The product images also show ways to use the C-clipped skirting armor in alternative ways, although that image uses two copies of the Tecprot kit. The HG Leo styled back skirt with thrusters and its armor cover, has a standard backpack dual peg connection and can be used on most HG style kits/backs.
The night vision camera is specific to the head of this kit using its slot-in slim pegs, ala a Spinatio knight visor, however the two have different widths and are not compatible.

Overall I give the bits a B for compatibility. The vented armor parts and side skirts are nice, but unless you swap the head over, the stand-out night vision camera isn't going onto anything else.

Equipment:
1 magazine style Grenade Launcher
1 massive transparent yellow Riot Shield with three mounting points and an L shaped handle that pegs in
Usual 30MM style hands

Conclusion:
The grenade launcher and shield are very attractive equipment parts for other kits while the model itself is maybe a little basic.
It looks decent as a 30MM kit, definitely a sorely needed upgrade on the Alto, but the more I look at it, it does seem to just be a visual upgrade on the Alto, but with cost cutting on the actual mechanics of it. The C-clip joints are at this point a little embarrassing, when so many better polycap and plastic on plastic joints have been designed.
